Domaine d'Arès Lieu de réception sur le Bassin d'Arcachon

The Domaine

A Place Steeped in History

Over 300 years ago, the Domaine d'Arès was a vast agricultural estate stretching all the way to Lacanau, home to cattle, horses, pigs and poultry.
Over time, the property was gradually divided, and a large portion of the land was donated to the Arès clinic, as well as to the aérium, a care facility that welcomed underprivileged or ill children.

When the Domaine was acquired in 2004, Maxime and his parents – originally from southern France – were searching for a preserved, natural environment where they could establish their stables and care for their horses in the best possible conditions. They were instantly captivated by this raw, abandoned estate.

Nestled in a peaceful, green setting, surrounded by unspoiled nature, the site offered an ideal haven.
Fresh air, open meadows, wooded paths… everything was in place for their animals to thrive in freedom.

Since then, with dedication and care, they have worked to protect and enhance this enchanting place – now transformed into a unique holiday retreat and an exceptional venue for private events.

Today, their passion and deep respect for the environment can be felt in every corner of the Domaine.

Renovations Guided by Respect for Nature and Place

True to their values, Maxime and his parents began by renovating the old barn into two stunning, independent homes of 200 and 250 m².
Every detail was thoughtfully considered – from preserving the original woodwork to carefully selecting local materials that harmoniously combine wood and steel. Energy efficiency was also a priority, with insulation, photovoltaic solar panels, and geothermal heating, all aimed at preserving the site’s authenticity while making it an eco-conscious, environmentally respectful estate.

Located in the heart of the Prés Salés Nature Reserve – stretching from Arès to Lège-Cap Ferret – the Domaine is committed to sustainable agriculture, using no chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
The swimming pool, meanwhile, runs on a salt-based system, minimizing the use of chemical treatments.

Preservation, environmental responsibility, and authenticity are the cornerstones of every project undertaken here.

At the same time, the equestrian facilities were built to support the family's horse breeding activity.
Broodmares and foals soon made the Domaine's vast meadows their home.

A partnership with the Conservatoire du Littoral (Coastal Protection Agency) has also made it possible to use certain meadows within the nature reserve, under a strict agreement that respects both the biodiversity and the fragile coastal ecosystem where land meets sea.

A Sought-After Tourist Destination

In 2017, the Domaine opened to tourism, and the two houses were made available as seasonal rentals through the official creation of a “farm stay” hospitality service.
Initially reserved for summer visitors, the activity quickly grew throughout the year, and the Domaine soon won the hearts of many returning guests.
Over time, it began receiving increasing requests for full estate rentals – especially for private events (weddings, ceremonies, birthdays) and professional gatherings (team seminars, corporate evenings…).
To meet this growing demand, the Domaine underwent a new wave of renovations in 2023.

An Estate Dedicated to Events

In April 2023, the Domaine breathed new life into its former stables, transforming them into a stunning 195 m² reception hall – Le Barn – designed to host a wide range of events for both private clients and professionals : weddings, family gatherings, conferences, seminars, team-building retreats…
With its wooden walls, exposed beams, original stall windows, and decorative horseshoes, this thoughtfully designed and tastefully decorated space offers a truly unique atmosphere – one that instantly immerses guests in the spirit and history of the place.
The adjoining Club House, along with the vast surrounding green spaces, completes this exceptional venue dedicated to memorable celebrations and meaningful encounters.
